Accounting Scholarship

Payne, Nickles & Company, CPAs, through The Fund for Huron County (an Affiliate of The Community Foundation of Lorain County), is proud to announce it is again offering up to two (2) $1,500 scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year.  The scholarship is open to fourth or fifth year students with accounting majors, and is intended to assist the student in meeting the 150-hour requirement to take the CPA exam.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Erie/Huron, or contiguous counties, Ohio resident Minimum 2.8 grade point average Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)   The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010.  Our scholarship is based on field of study, merit, financial need and community involvement.  The decision is final and will be announced in late June.  The scholarship will be paid to the school (not to an individual or bookstore) in one installment. The Firm’s offices are located at 422 West Market Street in Sandusky and 257 Benedict Avenue, Bldg. D in Norwalk.  Scholarship applications can be picked up at either location, or downloaded and printed here.  All completed applications should be submitted to the Fund for Huron County, P. O. Box 541, Norwalk, Ohio 44857. 2010 Scholarship Winners The two accounting scholarships offered for the 2010-2011 year have been awarded. These scholarships are from a fund established by Payne, Nickles & Company within The Fund for Huron County, and are available to any fourth or fifth year accounting major in Erie, Huron or contiguous counties. Zachary J. Rospert, a student at The University of Akron, received one of the $1500 awards. He plans to continue working toward his accounting degree and expects to graduate in May 2012. Mr. Rospert is the son of Randy and Carla Rospert. The second scholarship of $1,500 has been awarded to Kailee S. McGuire of Sandusky. Ms. McGuire attends Ohio Northern University and plans to continue working toward her accounting degree. She expects to graduate in May 2011. Kailee is the daughter of Patrick and Tracee McGuire. The Fund established by this Firm is a donor advised fund which allows us to take an active role in award decisions. Our congratulations go to Zachary and Kailee. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your continuing education, and wish each of you continued success.
