Payne, Nickles and Company was recently named as one of the 2009 Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group. This survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting profession, benefiting the nation's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Accounting Firms to Work for list is made up of a total of 100 companies, split into three groups: 20 small-sized companies, 65 medium-sized companies, 15 large-sized companies. Payne, Nickles and Company has been named one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work for in the medium-sized company category. With over 30 employees in its Sandusky and Norwalk offices, Payne, Nickles & Company is the largest Certified Public Accounting and Business Consulting firm based in Erie and Huron Counties. “This honor reflects what we have said for many years, our employees make the difference,” said Carl McGookey, President of Payne, Nickles & Company. “We are very proud of our employees and the workplace atmosphere they help create.” Companies from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings. Payne, Nickles and Company salutes two local Healthcare providers that were recently ranked by Modern Healthcare in the top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.  Firelands Regional Medical Center and Fisher-Titus Medical Center have received this recognition.  McGookey added, “We believe the rankings of all three organizations show that Erie and Huron Counties are great places to live and work.”
